Course Synopsis

Presenter: Paresh B. Patel, DDS

One of the most common procedures performed by general practitioners is the crown & bridge restoration — which is why it is crucial that practices conduct these procedures both accurately and efficiently. This course will demonstrate today’s techniques for applying local anesthesia, selecting shades, tooth preparation, creating impressions and choosing crown materials, with a particular focus on all-ceramic monolithic materials that have high-strength characteristics. Participants will also learn how to work with solid zirconia and determine the differences between zirconia oxide restorative materials.

Learning Objectives

  • Perform predictable preparation techniques and choose specific burs based on chosen restorative material to guarantee proper reduction
  • Improve quality of preparations and impressions by combining preparation technique with an impression protocol
  • Describe advantages and disadvantages of monolithic and bilayered restorations, particularly indications, contraindications and preparation design
  • Incorporate the crucial information laboratory technicians need in order to create predictable, esthetic restorations, such as shade communication and photography
